Mr. Andy Clark (Clark Builders)
Building a great company is not just about skill, it's also about character and personality.
Clark Builders began in 1974 when a young Andy Clark started erecting pre-engineered buildings from a base in
Yellowknife. Today, Clark Builders is recognized as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies & Canada's 50 Best
Employers. Through that growth, Andy Clark has guided his team to great accomplishments. With roots still firmly
planted in Canada's north, Clark Builders retains the can-do, entrepreneurial spirit that characterizes life in
Canada's most remote regions. Mr. Clark with share his stories, triumphs, and challenges in achieving success in
this industry.
Mr. Stanis Smith, Stantec Vancouver
Discover the Power of BIM (BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING) presented by AUTODESK
Delays in construction due to design errors, lack of coordination between disciplines, and miscommunication are amplified
during sub zero conditions. The antiquated and costly 2D design to construction delivery process is quickly being replaced
with a process called Building Information Modeling (BIM). BIM is the creation and use of a 3D digital representation of
a project used throughout the design, and construction process to help visualise, analyze, and predict the project before
it’s built. Learn how BIM dramatically enhances the entire project delivery process and facilitates a 3D digital as-built
for operations and maintenance throughout the building lifecycle. In Canada, the industry finds itself at the tipping point
of recognizing the importance of BIM as it relates to combining progressive thinking consultants and their client into a
holistic entity for the purposes of performing Lean Construction or Integrated Project Delivery.
Dr. Mike Percy, Dean, University of Alberta School of Business
The outlook of LEED and LEAN construction in the marketplace and the state of construction sectors in Alberta over
the next 5 to 7 years.
Workshops include:
LEAN Construction 101 (limit of 50 participants)
This workshop is presented Greg Howell from the Lean Construction Institute—the World Leader
in applying Lean Principals to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Sectors.
Have you ever wondered how you could get rid of wasted time and money on your projects? This ‘hands on’ session will
develop industry professionals’ understanding of how to apply lean principals and processes to the architecture,
engineering and construction sector to improve project productivity and decrease wasted time, resources and energy
to ensure a project that is done on time and on budget.
