Mr. Stanis Smith, Stantec Vancouver
Discover the Power of BIM (BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING) presented by AUTODESK

Mr. Stanis Smith Delays in construction due to design errors, lack of coordination between disciplines, and miscommunication are amplified during sub zero conditions. The antiquated and costly 2D design to construction delivery process is quickly being replaced with a process called Building Information Modeling (BIM). BIM is the creation and use of a 3D digital representation of a project used throughout the design, and construction process to help visualise, analyze, and predict the project before it’s built. Learn how BIM dramatically enhances the entire project delivery process and facilitates a 3D digital as-built for operations and maintenance throughout the building lifecycle. In Canada, the industry finds itself at the tipping point of recognizing the importance of BIM as it relates to combining progressive thinking consultants and their client into a holistic entity for the purposes of performing Lean Construction or Integrated Project Delivery.

Dr. Mike Percy, Dean, University of Alberta School of Business
